| In the name of God, Amen I, Martha A. H. Burruss of Spotsylvania County being of sound disposing mind and memory, do make this my last will and testament as follows: To Wit: Item 1: I give to my husband, William E. L. Burruss, the whole of my property, real and personal and mixed for and during his lifetime only; to have the same for his maintenance and support and at his death, I give, devise, and bequeath the said property of every kind, to my two sons, Nelson L., and Alpheus Burruss, to have and to hold between them in equal parts as theirs, absolutely and forever: Item 2: For good considerations moving me, I direct that my daughter Emma L. Beazley shall not have any portion of my estate whatever. In witness whereof, I have hereunto signed my hand and seal, this 10th day of October 1900. M.A.H. Burruss [seal] Witness J. P. H. Crismond A. H. Crismond In the office of the clerk of the Circuit Court of Spotsylvania County, March 24, 1908, a writing purporting to be the last will and testament of M. A. H. Burruss dec'd was this day presented in office before me, T. A. Harris, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Spotsylvania County, and offered for probate which said writing was fully proven and upon the oaths of J. P. Chrismond, and A. H. Crismond, was proved and recorded cgm notes: Martha Ann Dickerson was born circa 1844 in Caroline County, Virginia. On January 5, 1860 she was married by Rev. Henry Davis to William E. L. Burruss. The couple had 7 children, three survived at the time of their mother's death. The children were: Nelson Lee Burruss born March 25, 1861 who married Ella Hockaday Emma Burruss born 1864, who married Henry T. Beazley. Why she was omitted in her mother's will isn't known. William Burrus born 8-15-1865, deceased befor Martha Dickerson Burruss died. Fanny Burrus born 5-31-1867, deceased before Martha Dickerson Burruss died. Alpheus "Alfred" Burton Burruss born May 25, 1870 married Emma Carter Charles Burrus born 1870 died in infancy Miilie G. Burruss born 1875, married Warner A.
